Fruit flies
Description - Fruit flies are tan in color and have red eyes. They are 1/8th of an inch in length
and feed on decaying fruits and vegetables.
Biology - Fruit flies are small pests that are commonly found in homes, restaurants and other facilities where food is processed. They are found in moist, decaying matter that has been stationary for several days. Fruit flies are generally found in unsanitary conditions, so they are potential health concern.
Prevention - Fruit flies are best prevented through sanitation, remove kitchen trash daily and keep counter surfaces clean.
Indian meal moths
The head and thorax are reddish brown and the hind wings are gray.The larvae (caterpillars) are about 2/3 inch long.
Biology - These moths feed on dried fruits, grains, seeds, nuts, chocolate, candies, bird seed, dog food, powered milk, dried peppers, and candy. These pests can be found wherever food is stored.
Prevention -Dried food products should be inspected thoroughly for signs of moth infestations. Discard infested food in outdoor trash bins. Clean infested cupboards with a vacuum and soap and water. Store food in sealed containers.
American cockroach
Description - American cockroach adults are around 1.6 inches in length. The top of their bodies are reddish brown and have a yellowish marking on the body above the head. They are also known as the water bug.
Biology - American cockroaches generally live in moist areas, but can survive in dry areas if they have access to water, they prefer warm temperatures and live in basements, sewers and crawlspaces.
Prevention - Good sanitation and cleaning up debris is recommended to reduce cockroach populations.
Oriental cockroach
Description - Adult oriental cockroach are the largest species of cockroach measuring approximately 1 inch in length. They are dark brown to black in color and have a glossy body. They are also, known as the water bug.
Biology - The oriental cockroach tends to travel much slower than other species. They can often be found around decaying organic matter and in sewers, drains, and other damp locations.
Prevention - Good sanitation and cleaning up debris is recommended to reduce cockroach populations.
Norway rat 
Description- Norway rats have an adult body length of 8 inches and a tail length of 4 inches. Norway rats typically have course brown fur with a pale gray or grayish brown underside. They are excellent climbers and often enter a home during the fall.
Biology - Norway rats are active all year round and can eat about a third of their weight in one day. They feed on anything from garbage, candy, fruits, grains, seeds and even other rodents and animals.
Prevention- Seal all entry points to keep rats out of living areas. Thet can survive in a variety of different habitats and take advantage of structures and environments. Rats can gain entry through a hole the size of a quarter.
